Bardstown, KY
October 7, 2007
I arrived in Bardstown, KY at around 4:00 on Saturday. I set up camp at a cool little park called “My Old Kentucky Home.” Yeah, a lot of country music could be heard in the RV area. I stayed away from that.
It turns out that Maker’s Mark bourbon is made in this town. I was going to tour the distillery but decided not to so I could get a hotel in the Lynchburg, TN area in time to watch the F1 race
Only two more races to go.
Stonewall Jackson Lake, WV

This place was pretty interesting. It was brutally dark at night, which was surprising. I never experienced darkness at night like this. You could see the stars very clearly.
The lake is high up in the West Virginia mountains so where was plenty of mountain wild life. Four deer were hanging out by my camp site the entire time I was there. They didn’t seem to mind me. Squirrels, chipmunks, and other things were constantly running around. Sleeping at night wasn’t too easy since everything kept running around and making noise. I think I saw bear tracks by the lake too, which nerves slightly rattled.
The fishing was not as good as I expected, which might be because its October. I only caught two largemouth bass on the second day.
The people seemed to fit the stereotype of people from West Virginia … which I found amusing. Getting breakfast at subway in a nearby town took about 15 minutes. No joke. These people were SLOW.
All in all a pretty cool place. I’m glad I went but probably won’t return … at least not alone.
