Driving through Guadalupe Mountains

I drove through the Guadalupe mountains in Texas to get to San Cruses, NM. Only took a couple of pictures but this area is amazing. There is nothing around at all, just rocky desert and the mountains.

Past this area I saw an occasional trailer or shack about a quarter mile off the road. What the hell are these people doing? Do they have jobs? If so, do they commute 120 miles to El Paso? I couldn’t figure it out … still can’t.

Regardless, I’m crashing in San Cruses for the night, then hitting the White Sands National Monument in the morning. Should be pretty wild from what I’ve heard on the road.

Carlsbad Caverns

Finally got the car all fixed up and drove back to the caverns. These caverns are pretty amazing. I wasn’t expecting anything near this size. They just go on and on.

I took tons of pictures but I was messing around with the night time settings a lot due to how dark it was. So about 3/4 of them turned out blurry. I uploaded the best ones to picasa. Here are a couple thumbs.
